2010 Showcase Champions

The 2010 Miss Basketball Showcase featured 64 prep girl’s all-star teams from 13 states. Pinnacle Nebraska I finished 8-0. Congratulations to Coach Flynn and these players and all who participated for a job well done! The following article is from the July 12 issue of the Kearney Hub newspaper.

Mandelko Lead Pinnacle to Miss Basketball Title

KEARNEY — The Pinnacle Bank All-Stars returned to the top of the Miss Basketball Showcase Sunday.

Pinnacle Bank Nebraska I won its fifth Miss Basketball title by downing the Sioux Falls Warriors 61-54 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Health and Sports Center.

The title is the fifth for the Pinnacle Bank program in the 15-year history of the showcase, but the first since 2005.

Sunday, Lexington’s Hailey Mandelko and Alexis Akin-Otiko of Bellevue West each scored 13 points to pace Pinnacle Bank.

Mandelko was named Miss Basketball MVP after leading Pinnacle Bank by scoring 12.6 points per game.

Pinnacle Bank led for the last 17 minutes of the game, but never by more than eight points. Sioux Falls clawed within four points four times in the last four minutes, but couldn’t get any closer.

Mercedes Stotesbery had 13 points and four rebounds for Sioux Falls. Sami Smith added 12 points while Becca Ryan had 11.
